There are places that we imagine exist, when we began to plan our trip to Cusco, we discovered the Humantay Lagoon, and we were impressed with the beauty of that country, the track is not easy, we had a rainy weather that made the trek more difficult but that does not take away the desire to keep going up to this great lagoon. On the way you will find incredible landscapes that make the walk more pleasant

One off the bucketlist - We were very close to not making the trip up there as our budget was on its last legs. We decided to go it alone rather than use the extortionate travel agencies and made the journey via several local combi-taxi’s, one of which was 5 hours long, then a few sketchy gravel roads with sheer drops to the road’s side, a hike up a railway track, a mad dash through a tunnel to avoid the approaching train, and then a 3 hour round trip hike to the top and back the following morning. One of the best decisions we made and a story to tell. Always do it.

Machu Picchu (in Quechua “Old Mountain”). Declared Historical and Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco in 1981. It is one of the 7 new wonders of the world located in Peru, in the Department of Cuzco, in the province of Urubamba. This ancient Andean town was built in the 15th century as a resting place and religious sanctuary.
